Innovations in how we see children’s clothing

The Scout Rain Jacket was one of the 5 winners of the Cradle to Cradle Product Design Challenge and we think it’s such an ingenious idea! Children’s clothing is one of the largest generators of waste within the fashion industry because their clothing can only be used for a short period of time before the child grows in size. This continual replacement of clothing is extremely wasteful!

So students from SCAD – Alexandria Jones, Jordan Jones, Natalie Ouma and Melissa Shuford – provided a solution to this by creating a jacket that ‘grows’ with the child, which extends the product life! It’s great to see the next generation of thinkers looking for ways to sustainably reshape the fashion and interiors industry by reducing waste at every level of the market!
