Statistics like over five trillion pieces of plastic filling the world’s oceans which can take years for it to break down paints a bleak picture. But an initiative like this is surely s step in the right direction. Already people who support the idea say the 5p cost put on single-plastic bags shows how well schemes like this can work – use is down 83%.
