Our sustainable journey
1985
Kapdaa, an independent women's fashion studio, was founded, reusing fabric end-of-rolls to create garments.
2008
High street shops were established and we extended the brand ethos by up-cycling fabric waste to create hangers, invoice books, business cards, and giveaway bags.
2014
The first bookmark from offcuts was created as giveaways, leading to the creation of Kapdaa - The Offcut Company.
2016
Kapdaa was acknowledged at London Fashion Week for its innovative products, supporting local artisans and educating communities on circular practices.
2019
Saved 10,000 meters of fabric from landfill by collaborating with over 300 brands, including mills in Scotland, and tailors, interior and fashion designers in London, NY, LA, Paris and Belgium.
2021
Addressed the challenge of large-scale recycling of used garments, unsold stock, and take-back schemes during the pandemic.
2022
Began R&D for Ai4Fibres with support from Kingston University and material scientists from the University of Leeds to recycle garment waste in the UK.
2023
Secretary of State Michelle Donelan visited our facilities to view the first Ai4Fibres prototype, featuring us at the Ai Safety Summit in London.
2024
Providing end-to-end garment waste solutions for fashion brands, recyclers, and councils, reducing landfill and waste export, with a team of innovators, craftsmen, scientists, and engineers in the UK.
Purpose
Our purpose is to harness the power of technology to create a sustainable, circular textile economy that protects our planet and empowers people.
By innovating at the intersection of environmental responsibility and economic opportunity, we aim to lead a global transformation that reimagines the lifecycle of textiles, ensuring a better future for all.
Values
Innovation: Pioneering solutions that challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change.
Sustainability: Committing to environmental excellence and a future where actions today foster a healthier tomorrow.
Integrity: Conducting our business with honesty, transparency, and respect for the world we live in.
Collaboration: Building partnerships that amplify our impact, from local communities to global industries.
Empowerment: Inspiring action and enabling self-sufficiency in textile waste management across the globe.
Mission
At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to the planet. We aim to turn waste into worth, creating sustainable materials for a variety of needs while minimising environmental impact.
By focusing on local solutions, we significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with traditional textile disposal and also bolster local economies, fostering self-sufficiency and reducing the global waste burden.
Vision
In a world increasingly aware of its environmental footprint, our goal is to lead with humility and innovation, utilising emerging technology to weave a new narrative for textile waste.
We envision a future where our technological advancements quietly revolutionise the cycle of use and reuse, making textile waste a concept of the past. Our aspiration is to foster a circular economy that equally values materials and people, supported by technology that empowers industries and communities to sustainably manage their textile resources.
